DR Jan Miljkovic

Jan was born and raised in Belgrade. He is a senior biomedical researcher at the MRC Mitochondrial Biology Unit, University of Cambridge. His scientific curiosity dates to his early childhood, when he started playing with laboratory equipment and exploring the mysteries behind the structure of nature. Later, he pursued his passion for biochemistry and extended his education and professional career by obtaining a PhD at the Friedrich-Alexander University in Nürnberg, Germany followed by postdocs at the IBGC-CNRS in Bordeaux, France and at the Harvard School of Public Health in Boston, USA.

Jan is currently investigating the fundamental principles behind cellular and mitochondrial signaling processes in altered states of cellular homeostasis such as ischemia, hypoxia/anoxia, and hibernation. Jan is fascinated by pedagogy and education. His enthusiasm and passion for supporting the younger generation towards science and in the improvement of education worldwide are valuable assets for Trust.

 

PROF. DRAGAN SAVIC

Dragan is Chief Executive Officer at KWR Water Research Institute based in the Netherlands and Professor of Hydroinformatics at the University of Exeter in the UK. Professor Savic is an international expert in smart water systems with over 35 years of experience working in engineering, academia and research consultancy. His work has resulted in patentable innovation and spinout companies. In addition to innovation and leadership skills, he is known for believing in bridging science to practice in the wider water sector and utilities in general.

Dragan is a founder and former director of the Centre for Water Systems, an internationally recognised group for excellence in water and environmental science research. He is a Chartered Civil and Water Engineer and an elected Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, Member of the European Academy of Sciences, a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), Fellow of the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM) and Fellow of the International Water Association (IWA). With such broad expertise, experience and reputation, Prof. Savić is a sought-after expert, popular coach, teacher and public speaker.

DR ANA MIJIC

Ana is a Senior Lecturer in Water Systems Integration and a Co-Director of the Centre for Systems Engineering and Innovation (CSEI). She is leading the development of novel system tools focused on quantifying the interaction between water systems and sustainable development. The work has aim to inform regulatory bodies and water industry if and how we can support economic growth whilst ensuring sustainable water use and flood and water quality management under future uncertainties.

Through NERC Innovation Fellowship funding she worked with the UK Environment Agency to apply systems thinking and systemic approaches to develop principles of systems water management at a catchment scale. She has led the CHANSE project on systems water management and irrigation water use in India. Currently, Ana is a Systems Lead for the CAMELLIA impact program, where her work is focused on developing systems water management models. These models can represent the integrated water infrastructure planning system, and how grey and Blue-Green infrastructure solutions can be integrated with land use planning and housing design. Models can be used to inform the strategy and operations of water infrastructure systems that contribute to the overall quality of life in cities through the concept of Net Zero Pollution. Ana is a member of the EWRE Hydrology group awarded the 2019 Imperial President’s Award for Excellence in Research for Outstanding Research Team.

 

Tara Taubman-Bassirian

Tara is the digital expert for the charity. She has incredible expertise in areas like intellectual property, privacy and data protection or E-learnings. As an early adopter of emerging technologies, Tara makes it her business to advise individuals and businesses in the challenges presented by the area of online connectivity.

Monika Okreglicka-Mazur

Monika is the project managers for the trust. In her professional career she is a passionate technology consultant focused on delivering large technology programs in corporations. She is a passionate musician with a big love for baroque music. She loves playing piano, traveling and exploring different cultures.

DR Vasileios Kargas

DR NebojSa RadiC

Nebojsa is a Serbian national and the Director of the Cambridge University institution-wide world languages program. His main research interest focuses on the methodology of computer-mediated language teaching, world/translingual literature, and self-translation and his educational expertise is extremely valuable for the charity. Nebojsa is an accomplished novelist. He published literary works in the Serbian, English and Italian languages and is one of the editors of the Toronto-based literary magazine Ljudi govore.

ALAN KASONGO

Alan is currently working as an Electrical Engineer, for Lightsource BP, a global market leader in the development, acquisition and long long-term management of international large scale solar projects and smart energy. DR Aleksandra Vancevska

Aleksandra is a Balkan national. Originally from Macedonia, but born and raised in Serbia, she is passionate about all kinds of Balkan traditional dancing styles, she really embodies the spirit of the region. In her free time, Aleksandra has obtained a PhD from Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne in Switzerland. She is currently following her curiosity about the molecular machinery responsible to repair damaged DNA and their roles in cancer at The Francis Crick Institute in London. In addition, Aleksandra is a lover of movement of all sorts and enjoys yoga and walking the beautiful rural English landscapes.

Being currently based in the UK and returning often to Serbia, Aleksandra will assist us in strengthening the bonds with Serbian institutions and helping with communications. She offered to be an active Ambassador of the Trust in Serbia and to involve the pupils of the schools we help in some educational activities outside of their curriculum.

 

DR marija cubric

Marija is a researcher and consultant with expertise in technological innovation. She was born in Belgrade, moved to Canada in 1988, and then relocated to the UK in 1995, where she currently resides. She earned her BSc/MSc in Mathematics with Informatics from the University of Belgrade and subsequently worked as a software developer at Energoproject and IMS in Belgrade. While in Canada, she completed her PhD in Computer Science at Concordia University in Montreal and worked for Bell-Northern Research in Ottawa. After her move to the UK, she continued to work in the telecommunications industry (Nortel & Radiant Networks) before transitioning to academia in 2004. At the University of Hertfordshire, she was a course director for ITMB, the first UK Tech Gold Degree. In addition to this role, she developed, led, taught, and examined a wide range of courses, spanning BSc, MSc, MBA, PhD, and DBA programs.

 

Marija has contributed extensively to the fields of e-learning, information systems, and agile project management, publishing her work in high-impact journals and leading national and international research projects (COST, JISC, HEA). She has a proven track record of developing and promoting innovative blended learning practices in Higher Education, which earned her recognition from the UKRI (HEFCE) Centre for Excellence. She is a journal co-editor of the Electronic Journal of E-Learning (Scopus) and has worked as a consultant for various organisations, including the EU Innovation Council, the British Computing Society, and TechUK. Marija is passionate about equal opportunities in education and would like to support the RNT efforts in this area.

Jelena Dumic

Jelena is a Serbian national. She is currently attending MPhil course in Theoretical and Applied Linguistics at the University of Cambridge. Her goal is to understand the phenomenon of autism from a linguistic point of view in order to provide a more systematic linguistic program and teaching tools that would enable autistic children to enhance their communication skills. She would like to develop adequate teaching tools and methods for the schools in Serbia within the charity.

 

DR Li Jin

Li is a scientist in medical research in Cambridge. She has built a strong experience in managing projects related to her field of work over her career as a researcher. She analyses rapidely the situations to decide on the best approach to progress. Her managerial experience will be utilised by the Trust when organising various events to support our cause.

DR ANNe PAJON

Anne worked as a bioinformatics developer first at the European Bioinformatics Institute, then at Sanger and more recently at CRUK Cambridge until April 2019. She is passionate about teaching and education and has been a director of the French Saturday school “Les Petits Caméléons” in Cambridge over the last 6 years. She has been an active member of the “Friends of Morley primary school” charity for 7 years organizing events and raising funds to redevelop the playground. She was active in multiple musical orchestra charities in France near Orléans where she comes from. She will be able to organize events to support our cause.

DR ANA HARVEY

Born and raised in Serbia, Ana is splitting her time between her current home in London and her family home back in Novi Sad. She studied law in Serbia, Germany and France, and holds a PhD in law from the University of Luxembourg and the International Max Planck Research School for Successful Dispute Resolution. Ana has worked for several years as a researcher in comparative procedural law at Max Planck Institute Luxembourg for Procedural Law and has gained considerable experience in teaching at the university level.

ALEXANDRA KRCHO

Alexandra was born and raised in Bosnia and Herzegovina. For the past 14 years, she has been living and working in London. She studied English Language and Literature and has worked as a teacher and translator for a couple of years. For the last 10 years, she been working as an account manager in the publishing and events industry. She is passionate about education, health, food and travel.  She will be a valuable asset to the team in strengthening our international relations and helping the charity to be more recognized outside of the UK and Serbia.

NATASHA DELIC

Natasha was born in Belgrade, Serbia. She currently lives and works in London, and has a MA in Publishing, Oxford Brooks University. During studies at The Royal Academy of Fine Arts, The Hague, Holland, Natasha was exposed to a wide range of artistic styles and it was through lithography that Natasha found the best and most natural way in expressing her chosen subjects and themes. Her work can be found in private collections around the world. Natasha’s other interests include publishing, humanities, nature. She is fluent in Serbian, Russian, Dutch, English.
